Who are you?
I am a businesswoman, author, and trainer. The question I hear after every speech is: “How’d you do it?” The emphasis in that question, invariably, is on the word “you.” How could you have done this? It’s a good question because I was raised in the 60’s with another era’s ideals and, after a series of foolish decisions, I found myself an over-burdened single mother, who desperately wanted a love life and a career. I was the young woman who doesn’t get any respect — the entry level staffer who came home, closed the door weeping tears of rage and then crumpling in a heap (sometimes in front of my children!)
So what happened?
I learned how to stay buoyant and, because I had to feed my kids, I ended up becoming the man I had hoped to marry. I built a small business that grew into a million dollar enterprise, slowly gathering a philosophy, a set of skills and the determination to sort my way out of despair, career disasters and disappointing (!) love affairs. Today I help other people develop business plans that translate to success.
What made you write UNSINKABLE?
I expect my readers will find the struggles I faced tangibly familiar and I hope they will see that my successes are ultimately attainable for them. I didn’t want to write a fantasy book filled with private jets and dark-eyed princes; but a book that can connect at a fundamental level to a suburban mother who wants to start a consulting firm or a recent college graduate who needs a boost of inspiration after a demoralizing rejection.
And exactly what is this UNSINKABLE business about?
I’m not Superwoman but someone willing to speak frankly about the low points— evil office politics, two divorces, kissing frogs instead of prince charming, getting fired and various other tragedies. I succeeded despite them. I’ve learned a lot about how to manifest success and money, how the Universe supports us — most of all, the importance of faith and persistence, especially when it looks like the ship is sinking. IF I can do it, so can the UNSINKABLE community.
